As the school year comes to an end, front-line staff involved in offering summer programming will gather for training opportunities at the sixth annual Out of School Time (OST) Conference, June 23.

The conference is an opportunity for people who work with children and youth in out-of-school-time programming to access valuable training while sharing stories from the field and engaging in meaningful discussion.

“It’s a simple, pragmatic way to equip front-line staff with tools that they’ll use every day, which enhances the experience for the youth,” said Lindsay Daniller, director of community initiatives and strategic development at REACH Edmonton.

About 100 people attended the sold-out conference in 2016.

“We’re making it bigger this year to meet demand,” said Daniller. “We want to connect people with practical, pragmatic supports for running summer camps with academic and recreational activities.”

The conference takes place June 23 at Clareview Recreation Centre (3804-139 Ave.). Click here to register.

OST Planning Committee members include REACH Edmonton, Edmonton Public Library, Ever Active Schools, Boys and Girls Clubs Big Brothers Big Sisters Edmonton, Edmonton Public School Board, Edmonton Catholic School District, Alberta Recreation and Parks Association, Edmonton Immigrant Services Association, the City of Edmonton and Catholic Social Services.
